Re: galiano island

Dockage is available at several public wharves for boat traffic: Sturdies Bay, (walking distance to the Village), Montague Harbour, Whalers Bay and Retreat Cove.

Dock facilities and (35) mooring buoys are located within Montague Harbour, and are accessible from the south. Boats can also anchor in Montague Harbour.
Maximum vessel length for the dock is 11 metres or (36 feet).
Dock Facilities Use Fee: $2.00 per metre / night
Mooring (to buoy) Fee: $12.00 per vessel / night

Re: galiano island

There's Dionisio Point. I haven't tried it myself and I've heard a fair amount of swell comes in. It's right at Porlier. A very beautiful spot.

Re: galiano island

There's not much shelter along the strait until Gossip Island.

Re: galiano island

Dioniso Pt. is a magical place, but only suitable as a day stop. When waiting to go through Porlier pass westbound, anchor in about 20 ft.,the water is clear. There are two submerged rocks in the perimiter.Over by the Parks bouy is a slightly more protected spot.Outside Porlier can be dangerous when there is a strong NW wind combined with a strong flood tide, the waves roll right into bay.

This guy gives it pretty good coverage.

Parks says Deep Bay he says White Rock. I get the sense you have to watch your weather pretty closely in winter over there.

Planning - BC Parks - Province of British Columbia

I've been planning a trip there but unless we get another shot of good weather I'm thinking I'll wait for next summer now.

There is no new private marina on the island: Montague Harbour remains the only one.

There is, however, a new dock at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa (formerly called the "Galiano Lodge" which had a dock years ago). It is located in Sturdies Bay and also is walking distance to the Village. It is seasonal May 1 to Oct 1 generally, and is free to users of the Inn, or dockage rates same as Government rates. Here is a link: Galiano Inn & Spa - Oceanfront Boutique Resort on Galiano Island, BC - New Dock
