Goiot Windlass problem, need help

Hi All, have a Goiot 300 series windlass and whilst operating it this little hole on the front has somehow broken and leaked all the oil out. Can this be repaired? Any help would be appreciated?

I have a 308, and unless I'm dreaming, there is no oil in it.

I don't think there are gears inside, only a chain and sprokets like on a bicycle. Coated w/ heavy grease

We have that windlass or its brother. Splash lubricated with gear oil. No pressure, so anything that plugs the hole will work for a temporary solution. Wine cork? There's probably enough oil in the sump to run it as is, plugging the hole might be just as much about keeping water out as oil in.

Re: Goiot Windlass problem, need help

I stand corrected.

I was thinking the 300 series were all manual windlasses. My maual Goiot is a 308, and is lubricated with grease, but the electric ones evidently use oil.

Splash lubricated, no pressure.

Start saving for a new windlass. there are NO parts world wide for those windlasses. Trying to find seals was next to impossible or a gypsy , ended up buying a lofrans.
