I have a problem with using a danforth/fortress type anchor if the boat may swing. Have seen too many situations where it did not reset quickly, or at all with 180 degree shifts.



Also, any of the "spade" type anchors (Mantus, Rocna, etc.) seem to be better for overall performance than older designs. I use a Mantus and have never had it take more than one length to set, or reset with shifts. Pretty much all the modern designs work similiarly.


I do have a Fortress and large Danforth as a secondary anchors for "storm" conditions and spares in case primary is lost.
