Re: Horizontal Dual Windlass + Anchor

Instead I would like to have a horizontal windlass that had two gypsy’s on each side and a wildcat on each side that could be engaged/disengaged.

Can anyone recommend a brand? Or have some insight on using two anchors and only one wildcat?

I know a guy that will shackle his second anchor to his anchor rode, after the first anchor touches the bottom. I neglected to ask how he retrieves it. I assume with a separate line after it clears the water using the gypsy. -That could be challenging should the wind pick up and turn the anchorage into a washing machine.

Here’s one advertised last April on this very forum

Re: Horizontal Dual Windlass + Anchor

I just shipped my Lighthouse 1501 windlass to the company last week for a complete rebuild. It was starting to leak oil after 20+ years of use.

Great windlass. I found no other windlass that come near to it in quality. I figured it was better to get a rebuild than buy a new one from a different manufacturer.

The things weighs close to 90 pounds. It was a beast to remove on my boat.
