How Could I Mount an Electric Windlass ?

I saw a 2nd 34 yesterday and had a closer inspection of the anchor locker. The gas bottle is stored in the locker and would have to be moved. There is only very limited locker space aft making it a tight squeeze. The vent is just forward of the bulkhead for the cabin. I guess a vertical windlass would drop the chain forward and with the gas bottle removed there is probably plenty of fall.

Unfortunately I came away from the inspection a bit underwhelmed. I've started to realise that a 30 year old boat is probably a bit to much hard work and will end up costing me too much to get up to the standard I would like.

I'm now back to thinking about more modern production boats that have what I want. I sort of feel more comfortable about replacing tired and worn parts on a 10 year old boat than trying to modernise and modify outdated systems on a 30 year old.

Freezing my nuts off on the 2nd of September does not help my enthusiasm about buying here..
