How do you splice six-strand to chain?

I prefer all-chain rode, but my new-to-me boat has 60 metres of HT chain which my banker tells me I need to live with.

So I will, splicing an additional 40-50 metres of line to it. A friend has a bunch of Samson Deep 6 six-strand anchor line that he has offered to me for next to nothing.

I have spliced line to chain before... with eight-strand, I braided the strands up through the chain. With three-strand, I pulled the strands through the first link and then braided the strands back through the line.

There's lots of how-to's on the net, but not found any for six-strand.

Appreciate hearing what you did with six-strand. Cheers

I have done an 8 strand splice but never a 6 strand splice. The pattern looks the same though. I would trust the source....Samson

Didn't see that. It's not chain, but perhaps I could make it work and combine the pdf you provided with the one that Yale produces for 8-strand brait, taking the obvious from both.

Perhaps use "pairs" of strands and splice as in a 3-strand?

Yes I think that is what I will try. Two emails to Samson have gone unanswered. Oh well, can't argue with the price.

I have some deep six line for a second anchor its been find but for some resend samson has deleted all info on it maybe there was a problem with it I dont know you con find the splice info at ebookbrowsee.net/class-1-6-strand-deep-six-rope-to-chain-splice
