Re: How heavy is too heavy?

Fascinating reading all the posts. There are obviously so many variables involved in anchoring that, in danger of starting another thread, I am going to suggest that there is scope(forgive the pun) for someone to assemble all the "data" and put it into a spreadsheet, so that at any given proposed anchorage the skipper can feed in his present details(boat size, type of anchor,type of seabed etc), press the equals button and out will come the parameters for "safe" anchoring for his boat. Wow! e.g. 20 metres of chain. If one of the "inputs " changes, i.e. wind speed /direction, an alarm goes off and "it" tells the skipper"what to do"! Nirvana? Possibly not.
