How to verify an authentic Delta anchor

I am looking at buying a used Delta anchor. It is stamped 110 UK on the bottom but does not say Lewmar anywhere like the newer anchors. It looks like the real deal. Does anyone know how to tell if it a genuine Delta? Could this be an older anchor before Lewmar took over?

Thanks
Frank

Re: How to verify an authentic Delta anchor

I had an early delta, still in my shed, says uk 9 under the toe. It's a genuine delta because it still has a piece of the label on the stock, lol! I replaced it with a 8lb Mantus anchor. Skip the used delta and buy yourself a better anchor, Mantus. You'll save yourself lots of sleep not having to get up to see if you dragged.

Lewmar branded them the past few years. You will see other deltas without the Lewmar name. Not as prevalent as fake bruce anchors out there, lots of those.

IIRC, the original was Simpson-Lawrence, bought out by Lewmar...

Maybe.

We had one, but it was many years ago, can't remember labeling if any...

Here are three pictures of my old Simpson Lawrence Delta anchor. Simpson Lawrence is written on the bottom of the toe.

Re: How to verify an authentic Delta anchor

Thanks everyone, the stamp on the bottom of this anchor makes me think it is not a knock-off.
Clam digger, the Mantus looks like a good anchor and I have read good reviews. My last boat had a Delta and I have been very happy with it anchoring many, many times with 25 knot winds (not gusts) and once blowing 35 to 40 with over 50 knot gusts in the Channel islands out here in California. No dragging for me but didn't sleep well in the cockpit all night.

In my opinion the real Delta plows are no better than the fakes. I owned one for a while and had several "incidents" which led me to selling it. Subsequently I've become a strong advocate of Spade, Rocna and Mantus anchors. They all seem to be equally well liked and I've had excellent results with both Spade and Rocna over 50,000 nautical miles of cruising, mostly at anchor.

Re: How to verify an authentic Delta anchor

Those pictures above of the old S-L Delta are very similar to my new-generation (and very inexpensive) German "Kobra" but the Kobra outperforms the Delta in every way (check out published test results from boating magazines). I wouldn't waste my time with any plough-type anchor except the new-gens.
