Re: Is this old CQR worth putting money into?

Slightly off topic here, but was wondering if grinding the tip of my CQR really sharp would greatly increase its penetration into the hard pan I run into?

Yesterday I had a tough time getting it to dig into the creek beds around St Augustine. Click image for larger version

Probably not and grinding will bring you to the topic much faster as it will remove the galvanised surface and accelerate rust.

If you take your grinder and shape it like this I actually think it will set much better

Re: Is this old CQR worth putting money into?

A CQR is a great anchor, but the one you have looks to be too old to bring back.

My old CQR has always performed well though at least for the past 10 years or so.

Easy day here as for once I have a storm actually blowing offshore.

Usually it's blowing onshore and the CQR has to hold or I'm on the beach.

Much nicer and still with the CQR
