Lewmar V2 Windlass with water proof housing

I am considering a Lewmar V2 700 W vertical windlass. They offer a water proof housing (IP68 rated) kit that seals up the motor and has stuffing glands for the power cables. On one hand this sounds like a good idea in a wet chain locker that can occasional see raw seawater draining through. On the other hand, some manufacturers (that don't offer this kit) warn about overheating. Lewmar Tech support (Josh) provided me the part number (68001001) which is not the catalog and said he has never heard of a case of overheating, but I don't believe they sell a whole lot of these. The cost seems reasonable ~$250 if really would make a more reliable installation.

I haven't found any threads about overheating windlasses, or particular issues with Lewmar windlasses.

Does anyone have any experience with this or care to comment ? Without the extra enclosure, I would try to make the wire connections serviceable in place and periodically clean and spray with corrosion inhibitor.

I am also looking at a Lofrans 1000; Maxwell RC88 and perhaps a Quick (which has quite a few models and options to choose from).
