Lofrans Tigre Config

My Lofrans Tigre appears to have a very odd configuration, there is no manual winching clutch and the rope drum & chain gypsy are on the same side. The biggest issue for me is no way to manually raise in the event of a motor/power failure. Here is what mine looks like, compared to the standard configuration.

Has anyone seen one like this or have any ideas about why/how!!

Suspect this must be unique, given that I have had no replies! Guess the next step is to contact Lofrans directly.

Possible someone had modified it by moving the drum to the gypsy side then had to remove the manual hub to install the locking mechanism? I’d take it apart and see what’s going on and post some more pics, might find some custom stuff in there.

Emailed Lofrans in Europe, already replied asking for photos! I think 'modified' is likely!

Ok..so why is there a handle(352) shown..?

Edit: the handle is used for tightening the wing nut(317)

Yes, handle to tighten/loosen clutch to allow gypsy to run free. So i guess it still has a manual drop anchor function! Just no manual raise.

Re: Lofrans Tigre Config

The diagrahm you have shows a dog clutch.

Also, both wing nuts are the same #, so both must be RHT.

Not particularly convenient, but it looks like if you use the winch handle on the left wingnut (looking forward of course), the dog clutch would allow you to rotate the shaft and raise the anchor, with both the chainwheel (if right wing nut is tight) and the drum.

Like I said, not as convenient as you would need to shift the handle lug by lug. But better than nothing.

Your post caught my eye with the drum and gypsy together as that was feature on many Goiot windlasses that I like.

Worth a try...let us know what happens!
