I would not be respective either.

Looking at the pictures what have we got there, about 2 knots of wind?
Not as if it was an issue for chafe now was it.

I would have been firing up the electric fence and checking to be sure the shotgun was loaded.

Re: Mooron pendent

Now if you had said that to me, I would have needed to ask the internet what a chaffing pendent was. But if you had said Your mooring line is chaffing on your anchor, then I would have attended to it. Its all in the presentation.
And I am hoping you are female wearing a holter top and a black dress

Errr. I saw the problem last week blowing about 25. The rhode was pressed hard up on the anchor edge. I saw them aboard today so I rowed over. Not snapping pictures. I came along side and pointed out a problem I had seen. thought that was a responsible thong to do. They were dismissive and rude. I would do the same thing again I might even go back next time I see them and mention there set up sucks. Course I'm betting that in 6 months the anchor will cut the line and they wint have a boat. Just hope it doesn't hit me as it drifts off.

Some people don't like being shown up for the fools they really are.
All you can do is try, and then give them plenty of elbow room in the future.

Re: Mooron pendent

That is what my mooring looks like. It's a small problem but works fine. The anchor is as smooth as the chock. I've a bit of anti-chafe on it even though it's not needed. I check it every day.

Sabray, you should perhaps examine your own behavior and irrational disproportionate emotions before commenting upon those of others. Maybe you need some time at sea. You sound like the righteous bitter permanently moored ex-pats that are an unfortunate feature of every popular port. Chill.

Sabray, I guess it all depends on how others read your post.
To some it may sound like a pointless rant, to others it was someone trying to save everyone some grief in the future.
I have re-read your post and cannot find any hint of the irrational or bitterness,,could someone please point out what i am missing??
P.S. *MODS* i promise not to react to any negative answers.

I, also, don't understand all the original post, but I definitely understand the foolish plan to set an anchor rode across the fluke of an anchor.

Re: Mooron pendent

I suppose if it was me I would have rowed over and asked if they had an email address because I had some good shots of their boat. I would have then taken some good shots and sent them along with some others like this. Sometimes photos make the point better..

Both pendants still intact but hooked on a Delta and yanked it free. It was still holding but chafing badly:

And DOWN!!!

And UP! And SNAP!!!!!

It's calm now but.......

No need to comment on this one....

You have a problem and don't know it. It might be fine until you're away from the boat and a storm comes up. Sabray has it right. Look at this page. Mooring Preparation & Precautions Photo Gallery by Compass Marine at pbase.com

EDIT: Oops -- Maine Sail beat me to it. Thanks Rodd.

Re: Mooron pendent

One way to deal with someone who has anchored or moored in a manner that is a potential threat to your boat (and who refuses to correct it) is to get out the camera and take some pictures. Be very obvious about it and tell the other skipper that you're just documenting the situation for legal reasons in case you need to make a claim. That might get them to take corrective action.

Re: Mooron pendent

I have found that help is a dish best served cold .... no, that was revenge ... well, same difference. A lot of people don't want help and no matter how it is offered they will react badly. Unfortunately it means you sometimes have to wait until something is actually going wrong to say "I've had some success with ...".
