muir hercules manual winch - update

apologies if you read the previous post but i wanted to update this for anyone who is thinking of replacing one of these...after i pulled the winch off, pulled the baseplate off, soaked the internals with diesel, replaced the oil, replaced a new baseplate I was initially disappointed because the winch was still very stiff and frankly bloody hard work. However after a few months it has now freed up and works really well - now i wouldnt consider replacing it. They are a bloody good winch, i get a bit of exercise, and theres no electrics to go wrong at the worst possible time. Not bad for a 30 year old winch. Cheers
