Re: Octopus Verses Rocna.

To all those kind souls suggesting recipes my friend assures me he has a bigger brother who will seek revenge if he goes missing.

I am expecting stronger wind over the next few days so it will be interesting to see to see if there any changes to the anchor.

So far the average wind has only been low 20s . There have been some regular gusts in high 30s but so far no change in the anchor despite having lost a lot of sand from under the fluke.

Here is some photos of the overall arrangement of the anchor.
The first one is my wife diving down for look and the second is close up of the anchor set.

Re: Octopus Verses Rocna.

Well, he left for a couple of days taking all his stones and shells with him, but now he is back although he has only bought back about half his toys.
We have only had a maximum of 25 knots of wind so the anchor looks identical. Our friend seems happy for the moment with the amount of room he has created under the anchor.

Another CF member arrived and acquired his own octopus within a couple of days. His tentacled tenant is bigger than ours so we have speculated that octopi feel that a Kobra anchor is superior.

In the mean time, between the two boats we have seen a Monk seal pup (very rare), found a small piece of wrecked aircraft underwater, nursed a small bird back to health and seen a church within a fortress constructed in the 1300's still complete with frescoes (shown is their idea of a new generation anchor). The church was constructed on top of a temple to Apollo built in 500 BC and a lot of the original, and amazingly accurate, stonework is still visible.
The church sits on top of a steep hill with only a goat trail for access. It only gets a couple of visitors a day in the busy season. An eerie place to sit and contemplate how little time we have on the earth.

And some people worry cruising will be boring.

Wot I noticed right off was how long the babe's wife's feet are. Damn! Oh, my darlin' Clementine. She's slender and sexy as hell but those feet! Beer says she has webbed toes.

That said, who wouldn't want a woman to check the anchor? Just can't take her out to dance!

How could you not step on those feet???????????????????????????

Who needs fins?

Is she wearing fins?

Kevin Costner wants to know.

Re: Octopus Verses Rocna.

No kidding - I noticed that too. I have to wear fins to get that much free-diving purchase!

I am willing to believe that it is only the camera angle and perspective, but I'm also willing to believe that there are special magical powers involved with them...

Noelex, all you need to do is entice him to a better home...make him an offer he can not refuse

PS
Please don't kill him, though delish, they are smart and beautiful
They are very intelligent,I saw a film once that showed an octopus open a baby food jar and get food from inside and then he closed it(screw the lid on and off..read that they were right up there with dogs as far as being able to learn to do tricks and commands...As far as eating them i feel that the Koreans have the right idea, they have a dish called 'Ojubokum' and it is wicked hot(tradition), fantastic and happens to be my favorite food of all time( served w/ dried anchovis, raw turnups, kimchee etc)...can also be prepared w/squid and it is called ?..

Re: Octopus Verses Rocna.

There used to be an aquarium at Mapua that had an octopus living opposite a tank with crayfish in it .One day the crayfish started disappearing so the manager set up a hidden camera to see who was stealing them.It turned out the octopus could see them from its cage and was lifting his lid sliding over the floor up the crayfish cage opening the lid hopping in and eating them then he would slide back to his own cage and close the lid.Clever wee fella, sadly a couple of young kids set fire to the place and they were all lost.
