Nick,
Summer weather here is a bit calmer. We cruise from CT to eastern ME.
This year we anchored south of Chatham MA, between Monomoy and south beach. A nasty front came through with towering, rolling clouds, torential rain but the wind gusts may have hit 30 kts but most likely 20 to 25. We were half way to Nantucket and felt like sitting ducks but the barrier beach and lack of any other boats around actually made for a secure anchorage.
The great thing about New England is that you can find safe places in any weather pattern. Winter is a whole other thing.

Our previous anchor was a Bruce, before that- CQR
The new anchors are a major , Major improvement.
The setting is instant. Security is awsome.
