Quick Windlass

Hi
I have recently been getting an electric shock from the capstan on my Quick anchor windless. It does seem to be when the capstan gets wet. All the electrics are dry. Can anyone suggest a remedy please?

Re: Quick Windless

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, John.

I'd suggest not using the windlass, when wet.

Re: Quick Windless

Do you have a voltmeter or multimeter? Do you get the shock when standing on a wet deck? Hold on to the + and touch the - of the multimeter to the capstan. What does it read (and which direction)?

Are you getting shocked when it's engaged? Or is it when it's powered on but not working? Or any time it's wet and the circuits are off?

Thankyou for your reply I have been doing various tests with a volt meter and it seems the capstan is constantly live. I do have an isloter swiitch fiited. I think there maybe a problem with the relay, is it possible for the relay to cause this problem?

Regards

John
