Regalvanizing near Annapolis?

Can anyone recommend a place close to Annapolis/Baltimore that will regalvanize anchor chain? Also curious about pricing? I have maybe 200' of 3/8 chain and my buddy probably has another 200' plus we figured we would get our anchors done guessing the price is better for quantity?

Re: Regalvanizing near Annapolis?

I'm no expert, but a friend of mine in D.C. looked into it and found a place in Virginia which does re-galvanizing. Quantity is cheaper. He was looking for others to join him.

Unfortunately, he's boarding a plane now for London, and won't be back for 10 days or so. If you haven't found a place by then, I'll ask him, and maybe you and your friend can join him in a bulk re-galvanizing PARTY!!

Hi, it's Bill's friend Scott... I've used Virginia Galvanizing several times for chain, anchors, and other gear. They've been purchased but it's the same company and they can do chain. Get some friends together and do the job all at once as there is a 350 lb min and cheaper by volume. They're just this side of Richmond, VA.

Re: Regalvanizing near Annapolis?

Hey, we may be in on this too - have a 20 kg Rocna and 100' of chain to do before we head south this autumn.

Naive question: we have another 200 ft of rope rode spliced to the chain; does that need to be removed and re-spliced after regalvanizing? I don't understand the chemical process, does it involve heat? Can the rope part be left in place?

In the HOT Dip Galvanizing process, the material is completely immersed in a bath consisting of a minimum of 98% pure MOLTEN zinc. The bath temperature is maintained at about 850° Fahrenheit.
