Rocna support

Not sure if this is in the right forum -

Has anyone had any experience with Rocna support? I ask because I contacted them a few weeks ago and didn't hear back. So I sent another request and still no response.

I requested info about their warranty. I purchased a Rocna 25 last summer. I used it about 100 days in salt water and about 80 days in brackish water. It's showing corrosion already. Their warranty does state that corrosion is not covered. But come on, that shouldn't happen so soon!

It's just starting to happen so I asked how this can be repaired if it's not covered (I expect it to not be covered but would love it if it is). So far I've not heard from them. If nothing else, this is not good customer support.

If the Mantus of the same size would have fit I probably would have bought that since I'm from the US and they are made in the US. But it would have required too much alteration of the anchor locker lid to work.

Don't get me wrong, I love the way the Rocna performs. I just don't like their support so far.

Re: Rocna support

How much corrosion are you talking about? You can post pictures here.

I have a small amount of corrosion where the anchor has rubbed the galvanizing off, but in general it's still pretty rust free.

In regards to your actual question though - no.

Re: Rocna support

How fast an anchor starts to show some rust depends a lot on what you anchor in. Coral rubble probably being the worst.

Either way, rocna should at least reply to your email support requests.

Re: Rocna support

Have you tried the company you purchased from. A lot of wholesalers/manufacturers are not really equipped to deal directly, that's part of the reason why they share thier profit with a retailer. Also they don't want to piss off the retailer by giving you a different answer. I'm not saying this is a good excuse, just might be why.

The retailer might get a better answer for you. He might get good will warranty because they know you, were Rockne don't know you or when you bought it.

I talk to the local guy here and he's very helpful.

Good luck

Rocna support

There's very little corrosion so far. Just a few small spots on the shank and a little on the tip. The area on the tip could easily be from abrasion. But the shank shouldn't be showing anything having been used so few times.

Anchored in sand and mud mostly. Never in or around any coral ruble or rock.

Yes, they should at least reply! They make great anchors. But what if this were a safety issue? They should reply.

I also checked the chain (3 yrs old) and it's fine. So I doubt it's from stray current.

Here's a picture. As I said, it's a pretty small area, but what will it be in a year or two years? Will it become a safety issue?

Re: Rocna support

If I don't hear back by the end of the week I'll try Defender - that's where I bought it.

Thanks, good suggestion.

Re: Rocna support

You can have it dipped by a hot dip steel galvanizer. Look for a structural steel hot dip galvanizer. It is a small job to them. Our bruce 22 needed it after 38 years. The guy was very nice and did not charge. It took 1 week. Rocna should pay for it.

Re: Rocna support

Good news. I heard from Rocna this evening. I have to send a few more pictures and proof of sale. I'll keep the forum updated, although not sure how long this process will take.

Maybe they saw my complaint on CF!!!!

Re: Rocna support

Rocna rocks - warranty approved! I will have to make arrangements with Defender (where I bought it).

In this day and digital age we expect everything to happen in an instant. Perhaps I was a little too quick to jump in and wonder about their customer service. Or perhaps posting on CF got things moving a little faster. Regardless, Rocna stepped up to the plate with flying colors.

Thank you Rocna!

A very happy customer,

Larry
