Rope strop on bridle - why?

My Lagoon 450 had about 1 meter of rope strop added to the bridle ends, which is shackled to the chain.

On all the previous cats I have sailed on, the bridle ends attached to the chain directly - no strop.

Why the strop? Seems to me to be an unnecessary point of failure.

Re: Rope strop on bridle - why?

The short answer is that it will be easier to veer out more chain and re-attach the bridle.

Plus, Multihulls like to windvane in a breeze. Using a bridle from the ama bows helps keep them from sailing back and forth on the rode. And the bridle has built-in snubber action, making things quieter at night, not hearing the chain grinding and working.

Re: Rope strop on bridle - why?

Perhaps to make it easier to pull over the bow roller to unhook/hook it on deck?
