Re: Spare anchor....

We got a 55 Rocna and a similar if not same Fortress and sold the Delta. The Delta was fine until we plowed a nice furrow one night at Grand Cay. The furrow was nice and straight, better than my farming days as a boy.

Yeah, never understood why someone decided to use a farming implement as a basis for an anchor design. [emoji6]

The Delta Anchor is not a Spade Anchor. The Spade ANchor is brand , not type of anchor. The Delta has a Convex holding area (plow) the Spade Anchor has a concave (soup bowl) holding area. Concave holding area is vastly stronger than convex.

"Concave holding area is vastly stronger than convex". Interesting comment worthy of a discussion.
How about a combination of both convex and concave with some added features.

Re: Spare anchor....

Personally I wouldn't keep an anchor I don't have full confidence in in a tight spot. If this is a "spare anchor" treat it as though it is the ultimate anchor for your boat. I'd get the big Fortress or another big Rocna for the stern. I am still a big fan of Danforth Hi tensiles because they have always held for me. One saved my butt in a Downeast 38 one windy night when the much heavier CQR lost its grip. I'll buy a scoop but never a plow design.
