Stem Protection for Plumb Bow

Just wondering what people are doing to protect the bow on a modern plumb bow design from the anchor fluke chipping gelcoat during retrieval.

I can bring it up with the windlass slowly but sometimes, it will rotate and hit the stem. To avoid this, I have been using the boat hook to keep the anchor well forward as I bring it onto the roller which is time consuming when single handed. Would really like to get a nice stainless stem protector. I have seen a few boats with this. Anyone have one? Or know where to get one? If you had one made, what thickness did you use?

Any other ideas? Not really excited about replacing or extending the roller forward as it would need to be extended considerably.

Re: Stem Protection for Plumb Bow

Unless the boat manufacturer makes a stem protector, you'd have to have one custom made. Probably 16 gauge (about 1/16" in US measure) would work. I assume the bow is rounded, so the ss guard would have to be rolled or hammered to fit. Then mount the guard to the hull, probably epoxy unless you want a bunch of screws.
How about epoxying some split small hose to the outside edge of the flukes?
