Yeah, pretty useless on a bigger boat. I used them as a kid on small power boats. Ok in that application for a day stop, but thats about it.

Assuming a chain rode, which would be quicker: free the rollers as you say, or pull the anchor out and shackle the chain on to it? I would think hanging onto the anchor outside the rail while putting a shackle on would be problematic.

In my case, talking about a Fortress FX37.

Interested in your views.

We like our FX23 as a stern anchor or emergency anchor. It is light so that makes it easy for my wife to handle. I will add some photos of our setup. This does not have our rode connected to it. I have ran the rode thru the rollers an that works also we are worried that some one would cleat the line between the boat and the bracket. And that would put to much load on your railing.

Thanks for your reply. It pretty well confirms my view that it is not really possible to have a chain rode attached to the anchor. I certainly agree with your point that running the rode up through the rollers is not practicable.

As a lucky recipient of your last give away I will probably go ahead with purchase as it looks a very neat storage arrangement for my Fortress. Just got to work out what else to buy from your shop!!

Re: Stern Anchor

Have a "kit" Fortress anchor for the stern, but have never used it. When awaiting for a bridge opening, I circle unless the current is less than idle speed.
