Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

Last summer, we anchored out a lot more and with it come the chore of washing off the mud from the anchor and chain. Rather than installing a through hull and wash system, I considered building a transfer pump washdown using a ryobi 18V pump (already have ryobi lithium inflators onboard).

Then I spotted this - (its not even listed on the Taylor Made site, which is odd) I'm thinking this beats my current method of lowering a bucket into the water about 4 to 5 times...

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

Nice looking product and would seem to have a good application for anchor retrieval duty. My experience, related from nearby boaters who used power spray washers on their boats, was that power washers would blow water through their hatch and opening port gaskets. They also reported creating new leaks around through deck penetrations.

Perhaps some discretion using a power washer on the decks may be in order.

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

I bought the identical product except for the brand name (WORX) at Lowes for $98 last spring. It doesn't have the soap bottle and did only come with one battery, but one that provided me with nearly an hour of max power "run time" and can "live" on the charger without harm. It does a pretty decent job, actually. --Peggie

Awesome pointer but checking lowes.com I only see "WORX 450-PSI 0.9-GPM Cold Water Electric Pressure Washer" for $205. Is this what you managed to find for $98? https://www.lowes.com/pd/WORX-450-PS...her/1001088200 It still looks worth considering. Harry

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

That's it... $98 was Lowe's sale price for it last spring. But $205 is still a LOT less than Taylor Made's price for the same thing. Before paying their price for it, I'd keep an eye on Lowe's to see if they put it on sale again this year. --Peggie

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

Here is a Worx portable electric power washer for a bit less.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079QD2LG1...dDbGljaz10cnVl

I am not sure if this will come out properly, but it is a similar Worx unit, showing around 450 PSI for $186. It is at Amazon and supposedly a few vendors are offering it for as little as $115.

Edit: I accidentally included the same Lowes link the first time I posted it. Oops!

The price at Binnacle is in Canadian Dollars, so it would be about 30% less in US dollars. Interestingly, the product is not available on Binnacle's US website.

That just doesn't seem like it's moving enough water to clean a chain.

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

Remembering back nearly a year, I don't recall Lowe's price being over $200...sticks in my mind that $98 was a 50% off sale.

This is what I am using. Works very well for cleaning mud off the anchor chain. The water tank is good for two applications; the battery charge lasts much longer.

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

All of this only proves that "marine" on a product immediately doubles the price of just about everything.

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

That big online retailer has a WORX 20V basic unit for $119 and the WORX 40V for $186. Maybe the Lowes $98 unit was 20V? In any case either way no doubt less than the "marine" version.

Re: Taylor Made Cordless Pressure Washer

Ryobi is coming out with new 18V tools every day... I would not be surprised to see one of these at some point soon. A great idea if there is enough capacity. Will wait this out a bit since I have copious Ryobi batts and chargers and really don't want to get into another format.
