What Kind of Anchor Is 'this' ?

http://pacificmarine.org/blog/wp-con...2228352_69.jpg

In the photo the boat is equiped with two anchors. One appears to be a traditional plow or CRQ style anchor. What is the other one with the broad, oddly shape fluke that is below the plow style anchor?

Thank you

Looks like an "Ultra" anchor. Have not used one but looks like it would take a big bite out of the mud.

I thought these were "ultra" anchors? ULTRA ANCHORS

What is werid about the one on that boat, is how square the frount of the anchor is, instead of the typicaly more pointed designs. It also doesn't seem to turn up on the sides like a Bruce.

I think everyone missed it. It is definitely homemade looks like a coal shovel. If not homemade it's unique to the area.

This is definitely not an Ultra anchor - wrong shape and wrong material (Ultra anchors are only available in highly polished stainless steel).

I have seen this design somewhere in the past, but the memory isn't quite up to remembering the name. Sorry.

The plow looks like a Delta. I have one, and I am happy with it. Gave away the traditional plow.

I have seen the second anchor many times in Florida, but don't know the name. I would think it has great hjolding power in mud, and sand.......i2f

Re: What Kind of Anchor Is 'this' ?

I only know because I recently upgraded my anchor and it was one of the ones I considered. It was first reviewed in Practical Sailor in 2001 and 2006: http://pdf.nauticexpo.com/pdf/xyz-ex...6288-3106.html and other tests.
