Link inside length of the HT/G43 is 1.03" vs 1.09" for the 3/8" BBB only 0.06" longer per link, not enough I think to cause a problem with most gypsies. Of course this is for Acco chain. Others may differ.
They may be the same thing now and or the HT chain I had was not Acco. That HT chain is at least 20 years old....

From my study any of the G40 or stronger chains may be called HT chain. One writeup I read went so far as to say that HT was a maketing term rather than a chain spec.

It is true that G40, 43 chains are HT but the chain I referenced was embossed HT and had a link length of 1.017" as measured with a digital verneer. The Acco G43 at west marine has an inside length of 1.035" as measured.

If this means anything it means that we should measure to be sure of what we have and to know that There are differences in the chains call HT.

And this is why I spent many hours reading chain specs and tech data, calling chain manufacturers and distributors AND still ended up purchasing several samples of various sizes and grades of chain to test. The whole chain thing is quite confusing and then add fit to a gypsy to make it even more so.

I have read similar comments regarding HT chain. The HT on my boat as well as I can determine, is original so over 30 years old. It's been a while since I looked at that one but I think it was marked G4. Have to go look next time I'm on the boat.

Keep in mind that for most gypsies, you want ISO short link chain, not proof chain. There is a considerablr difference in the length between the two.
