It went by really fast, but I think it was a Devils' Claw.

I don't think so. If you click on settings and slow the playback speed down to 0.5 or 0.25 you can see that it's some sort of asymmetrical hook. It looks really secure but also very streamlined.

it looks like a nice simple design probably made at some local place moons ago. i tried doing a search and found nothing. bet if they made it of ss they do well selling it.

Looks like it has some type of makers mark stamped/cast into the top right of the hook - a triangle (sail) shape with a dot in one corner? Maybe someone will recognise this.

I've certainly seen this general type around over the years, possibly in relation to bigger boats though.
