Windlass mounting location

Just obtained a Rawson 30 ft Pilothouse, 6 ton. Has never been sailed or anchored. I'm sorting out what type and where to install a windlass for her. Short term cruising Puget Sound. Long term Southern Pacific.
Challenge is the bowsprit. I have included pictures. Do I mount on top of the bowsprit? This would keep the best alignment for dropping rode into the chain locker. If I do mount on top, what would be the best Windlass, Horizontal or vertical? Pros and cons both ways. Challenge with vertical would be how to mount the motor below the bowsprit, create a space inside the bowsprit for the motor? And the weight being placed forward on the bow. Is Horizontal the only option?
1/4 chain with 1/2 inch rope or 5/16 with 5/8?
Any deals out there on the "right" windlass?
