Windlass Question

I have a Lofrans Tigres windlass on board. It usually runs fine, but sometimes it does not work. But if I bump the gypsy or tap the cover, it then starts up and runs fine. To me it sounds like the brushes are in need of replacement. But before spending 78.00 plus shipping, I thought I would ask the esteemed group's opinion
Also I have never replaced them, is it a difficult process?

Re: Windlass Question

Sounds like the brushes are sticking, get it fixed before the armature shorts out by having unbalanced loads.
