“A Voyage for Earth”
Moananuiākea, a voyage that will circumnavigate the vast Pacific Ocean

Moananuiākea is “Hōkūle‘a’s” 15th major voyage, in her first 50 years.

The Polynesian Voyaging Society (PVS) says “Hōkūleʻa”, a traditional Polynesian canoe, is on an expedition [“ Moananuiakea”, after the Pacific Ocean], that plans, over the next four years, to circumnavigate [±43,000 miles] the Pacific Ocean [starting in Alaska, ending in Japan], stopping at more than 300 ports, 36 countries and archipelagoes, and nearly 100 Indigenous territories, along the way.
Hōkūleʻa began its worldwide voyage from Juneau, Alaska, in mid-June and has made several stops at Alaskan and British Columbian ports since
