Active Captain network error message

I have used active captain on my Android phone and Android tablet ever since they came out with the apps. I'm getting ready to cruise for the summer and was going to delete some of the tiles and add a couple of new ones. It deleted the tiles without a problem but he gave me a message that there was a network error and it stopped downloading the new tile. I also did the data update and that went fine on both the phone and the tablet. Anybody else out there having problems?

Re: Active Captain network error message

I got the network error too.
You know Garmin just purchased AC so we will see what happens I guess.
Also got a message in my IPad warning that the app needed updating that it will not work with future versions of the IOS.

I had the same issue some time ago on an iPhone. Sounds like they discontinued the support of the app now. (At least for my device). Very disappointed as I used it all the time.

Re: Active Captain network error message

I guess its back to the paper guides and fellow boaters. Garmin takes too long (others probably the same) to get stuff right. The American Dream for the AC owners, a set-back for users.
Thanks for the post.

Interesting … I’ve been accessing AC through the Garmin Bluechart app on my iThingy. AC seems to be working just fine right now using this app. The website also seems fine.

Jeffrey has said that nothing would be changing with AC in the foreseeable future. So I don't think they would be dropping support for anything yet. He may not monitor this site closely. Go post in the AC Facebook group, you should get a response there.

The AC app for the ipads ( and iphone) hasn't worked correctly for over a year and jeffrey at that time (when I asked) said to use other apps with AC integrated into them so I think he unofficially dropped support quite a while ago

New iPad - same here in AC. So I think I'll remove the AC app and just rely on AC within Aqua Map which works well and it's a pretty good backup map anyhow.

Re: Active Captain network error message

Today's newsletter seemed to say if I read it correctly that everything that was supported, will continue to be supported.
Maybe just a temporary glitch. I'd expect some as things become integrated into whatever Garmin plans to do with it.

Re: Active Captain network error message

I deleted the app some time ago with an error that maps were no longet supported on android. Ac works fine until you try and download more maps. It has been this way for at least a year, so not a garmin issue.

Re: Active Captain network error message

You are probably right. I have not needed to add tiles since about a year ago. Thanks,
Louise

Re: Active Captain network error message

I cannot update my AC on my iPad due to the buyout from Garmin. I was getting ready to purchase a new chart plotter, radar, AIS, depth sounder etc all from Garmin.

Other than not buying Garmin equipment, does any one know how to reach Garmin and share our thoughts ?

I think they should know how the active boating community feels about their actions.

We have had the very same problems. I wish someone would find an answer to this. Very disappointed about Active Captain.
