AIS data on NMEA to Tablet

Hi All,
Has anybody found a way to send AIS data from an NMEA network to a Android tablet via bluetooth. I should have bought an AIS with bluetooth but didn't.
Thanks

You specify bluetooth, but it might be easier using wifi. There are several units available which do this, but $. I feed nmea to opencpn on my tablet and phone - both android- via a redbox.

Openplotter on a Raspberry Pi is probably the easiest option. You'll need a NMEA gateway if NMEA 2000 or just a cheap USB RS422 dongle if NMEA 0183 is the source. Not sure if you can do bluetooth out of the box, but wifi isn't too difficult to set up. If you're worried about losing internet over the Wifi, the Pi can also be configured to act as a gateway with minimal, if any, additional hardware and this will allow you to combine Internet and NMEA data streams.

My Vesper AIS has an app that put AIS onto my iPAD via the local wifi network.

You need a nmea to serial adapter. It works better over WiFi than Bluetooth. $20. RS232 to WiFi, WiFi Serial Server... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP2YMN7...p_mob_ap_share

Re: AIS data on NMEA to Tablet

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments
my thinking about using bluetooth was related to much reduced power usage compared to wifi but may wifi is the go.
Thanks again

Re: AIS data on NMEA to Tablet

I did but due to a mess of connect / pair problems I quit that.

I also failed to find a 'bluetooth ruter' at that time - something to create multi point nmea network. All BT I found worked only point to point.

I use wifi instead. Much easier to connect and no problems with dropped connections, etc.

Plenty of wifi able AIS / nmea options on the market. And every mobile device today hac wifi buil-in. So ....

I also built my own AIS display for our Android tablet. But I can recommend OpenCPN AIS implementation for those who want a click and install App.
