All my Inavx Charts disappeared from my Ipad

I opened my Inavx app on my ipad and noticed all my purchased Navonics charts covering the S Pacific are gone.

I did not continue my subscription to Inavx. But I thought I purchased the charts and they should not be deleted.

Sent in a couple of emails to their help desk.

Anyone else have this problem?

Does iNavX need a cell or Wi-Fi internet connection to use the marine charts or maps?
No. An internet connection is only needed to download selected charts and maps. Once charts and maps are downloaded they can be used at any time regardless of internet connectivity. Note: regular raster and vector charts download once and stay in memory with no further need of an Internet connection. Charts in memory do not expire but chart updates do cease once a subscription ends, and if device memory is reset or the device is replaced, it will require a chart subscription renewal.

Do charts in iNavX get backed up via USB synchronization or iCloud?
NOAA Charts backup to iCloud if iCloud backup is enabled on the users device, but no chart files are archived to a computer hard drive.

IIRC, if you select "refresh chart list" on iNavX, it wipes out all existing charts so that you can start fresh. Did you accidentally do this?

Where is the “refresh chart list” located on inavx? I don’t think I invoked that button. No backup to icloud. Until recently remote cruising with very limited wifi.

This happened to a number of folks (me included) in 2016. Inavx restored our chart libraries. But it took weeks. Not good while in French Polynesia and no internet but luckily we had a number of other charting programs including paper charts

I just checked my INavX app in which my SP charts had also expired. They are still there and accessible.

I recall that previously, some charts could be purchased and some were by subscription. I also understood that expired subscriptions would stay on the device but the data would of course be dated and updatable until the subscription is renewed.

Good luck replacing the charts. We used INavX Navionics charts for French Polynesia and found them quite reliable.

I submitted an Inavx customer support email. Within 3 hours I received a reply and later in the day I was able to gain access to the 2 groups of charts that disappeared. I am now backing up to icloud…….

Very pleased with the customer service.

Thought I would post another update regarding charts and Inavx

From their support person: As a bit of background information, the reseller relationship that iNavX has enjoyed with Navionics, was terminated by Navionics at the end of August 2021. Because of this, we can no longer sell Navionics charts. We know that this is an inconvenience. While we can’t control what Navionics does, we absolutely want to support you.

Many thanks for passing this info on - I will be particularly careful with my Navionics charts now. This is not good news.

My charts on my phone disappeared, I still have old navionics charts on my iPad. Has anyone used the Global Vector charts offered by iNavX? Was curious before I purchase them for my phone.

I use these charts on my iPad and like them, partly because they look a lot like paper charts, including more detail of shore landmarks and other relevant information that is missing on Navionics and similar.

However, this does tend to give them a bit more "cluttered" appearance at some zoom levels, which might be a problem on a small device like a phone. (Although some phones are large enough that maybe it isn't an issue ...)
