Autohelm 300 Response Levels

Dear all,

I am using an autohelm 300, and I want to switch it to the most tolerant level to minimise battery consumption and wear on the drive unit.

In the manual, it cites 3 levels, with no 1 being the default:

Level 1: Automatic sea state control
Level 2: Automatic sea state inhibit
Level 3: Automatic sea state inhibit counter rudder

What's the most tolerant setting?

I think it's 3. But if you can't tell the difference by observation it probably doesn't matter. Also keep the GAIN as low as possible. Sometimes small changes in heading relative to the wind or waves can help. As well as easing the mainsail as much as practical.

Most tollerant setting meaning lowest consumption is level 1. Level 3 is highest consumption. BR Dusko
