Best Nav App for Android Tablet.

Good day everyone,

I am looking for a good navigation App for my Android tablet but my requirements are fairly straightforward.
My sailing area is limited to St Helena Bay, Cape West Coast, South Africa and the other requirement is to be able to display the boats SOG in a fairly large status bar on the screen.

I use a Railblaza mount inside the main hatch so seeing the SOG and chart from the back of the cockpit is important.

Could someone recommend an app that would fit my requirement.

Many thanks.

Re: Best Nav App for Android Tablet.

We use AquaMap, mostly because it nicely addresses a specific issue on the US east coast... but I dunno how their charts might be for your area.

We also use iSailor, and it works well enough but... last I heard they didn't yet have a version for the newest Android operating system. (Haven't re-checked that recently.)

Re: Best Nav App for Android Tablet.

While I don’t have an simple answer I suggest that the central question is who has the best CHARTS for that area and then identify which apps support that chart system.

Looking on my iPhone:

INavEx does NOT appear to support that area

AquaMaps DOES. It is a $12US annual subscription.
AquaMaps is supported on Android.

OpenCPN works on Android. However O charts does NOT cover that area and I see no other charts offered that do.

Maybe other can check on applications I do not have available.
