Re: best way from baltimore to manila

many thanks to one and all for the honest and even humorous replies. made me laugh the one comment "767 first class ticket" ! this gives me more to think about now. sort am against 40/50 k to ship the boat. we really don't have the kind of spare cash and as one shipmate said it is about the journey! if we do this then why not keep going and just do a circumnavigation. I am retired so what is the hurry ? having spent 6 years and 60 k on a major refit why not use it to the full. I was just looking at the Atlantic/Suez/Indian Ocean route so I could let my Filipino wife see Europe/Middle East/India/Thailand. she has never been to these places. I have seen them all. yes there is the pirates but in Baltimore we live daily with violence. and how safe are the highways. am not trying to ramble on here but the point is to not live life scared either. how much interest to pirates have in a retired man/Filipino wife/9 year old daughter on a 1981 nauticat motorsailer. all the 60 k we have spent is on the inside of the boat and rigging. to look at the boat, it badly needs a complete out side paint job from the hull to fiberglass decks/woodwork. our old boat looks pretty shabby on the outside but inside is probably a 9 or 10 to any real sailor. Steadman (here on cruiser's forum) and probably others too would be glad to help us sail her around the world. no, I am not crazy. I am not ready either with the help of God to just sit here and rot. would rather die sailing than hanging out on the dock. have always loved the water. would love to make it to Manila and give all my wife's relatives the rides of their lives since they are all so very poor and maybe even pull up to the Manila Yacht Club just once from the water side and not be so miss treated by the security guards watching the front door....l.o.l. ! okay, time for your further comments and a good laugh too !!!!!!!!!! Re: best way from baltimore to manila

That was our original plan , taking a couple year's and enjoy all the inbetween. I've seen already lots of that and now we just want the boat over here in Asia .
The shipping is just too much $ for us.
Good luck in your pool ,
