Broadband Radar for PNW

I am considering buying a 32-34 ft. trawler for boating exclusively in the Pacific Northwest. I like what I have read about the new Simrad broadband radar. My only concern is its limited range. From what I have learned you get good returns out to about six miles. It seems to me that that would be enough for PNW cruising especially since I will be using it with a good chartplotter. Thus it would be used mainly for avoidance of other vessals Any thoughts?

If that's the range, it ought to be a good fit for PNW.
