Connectig GPS to Computer

Want to connect my Lowrance 5M chart plotter GPS to my computor. The connector plug coming from GPS has 3 wires, red, yellow, and black. What pins do they connect to on the 9 pin port on the computer.

The black will definitely go to pin 5, and either the red or the yellow will go to pin 2--whichever your GPS manual says is NMEA out (probably red). It won't hurt to try either way.

Note that most modern computers do not have a 9-pin RS232 serial port. If yours doesn't, you will need a serial to USB converter, which should be available for about $20.
