Cruising Florida, Coast to Coast

sorry for the stupid question, but im trying to get from the east coast to the west coast of florida. im searching for the northmost crossover point, other than okechobee. is there a spot north of marathon? chart 11452 doesnt list depths for the florida bay, anybody know why? i draw 4 feet.

The only thing north of Marathon for sailboats would be Okochobee or truck. If you stay away from the islands and sail north from the 7mile bridge you will have plenty water under your boat.

I agree with Roscoe, but also note that Okochobee has hieght limitations, so not good for all sailboats.

Active Captain can halp if useing the Okochobee canal. I like the 7 mile bridge and with a northaly heading ,you? I. can make Napels in 36 hours.
it is a realy good sail However check the forcast as the bay can get realy rough. and it can become like glass.

Cliff If you do change your mind about Okeechobee, be sure to check the closing schedules of the locks. They close for several weeks in summer months for maintenance. Moore Haven is to be closed June 8th thru Sept. 3rd.
