Re: downloading charts

There are some Geotif Australian Hydrographic charts kicking about, these were perhaps scanned and Georeferenced originally and of course varying accuracy and obviously out of date.
But I do love the older Fathom charts as they have more info where it matters for us.
I wish there was a source of these older charts, but think not.

You may try asking your boat neighbours if they have some to swap, they may have one of the many versions of CM93.

Re: downloading charts

Hi Dangermouse, I've looked at the charts above and they look pretty good. I sail from Pt Pirie at the top of the Spencer Gulf - one of Aus' best cruising grounds. There's a large bay of shoals before reaching deeper water. A look at the chart would be great, thanks.

Hopefully this the correct area and is at a suitable zoom level...

Re: downloading charts

I have a set of CM93 charts that I found somewhere. They are identical to the ones purchased for 35 euro. If you are in Australia, you can contact me and send me a USB drive and a reply paid package and I will copy for you.

I doubt that very much. What are the dates of those CM93 files?

Re: downloading charts

I had the same considerations for the Med.

Tried to find open source chars for opencpn, found some openseamap but the UI and the charts are terrible. Ended up getting the Navionics app and buying the navionics charts for the Med, black sea etc. for 50€, one year subscription for updates then usable offline, downloaded the whole area on the SD card for offline use.

By far the easiest UI and they seem to be very accurate.

Re: downloading charts

Thanks Dangermouse, looks like a proper chart to me. Think I'll go with them.

Hi, how do you manage to get the maps on your scared. I have nation's also but it requires the carts in the memory of the tablet.
Thanks and best regards
Tom

Not free, but definitely the "best buy" (less than AUD60 for the whole country)

Re: downloading charts

Thanks Renate and all others that have helped format the oeSENC S-57 chart series.

The AHO S-63 Australian AUST1 series of charts adds up to about 800 charts.

Does the oeSENC series include all coastal and port charts as in the Australia Pack: AUST1?

Same detail?

If so, amazing and thank you!
