Dry Tortugas to I Mujeres

Please excuse my lazy nav planning at this point. What is the trip from Key West to Cabo San Antonio and then on to Isla Mujeres like? On the way north we made 2 stops inside the reef of our neighbor and it was very nice sailing. Going south can you even make it to Cabo San Antonio in a reasonable fashion?

Re: Dry Tortugas to I Mujeres

I've only made that leg once and on that occasion there was an eddy in the Gulf that was positioned in such a way that we went straight W from the Key West until we stopped getting westerly help then headed S. with a little help from the current part of the time then only a little bit of hurt on the ground speed. Then W. again within "sight" of the big island. Modern weather and current information can save a lot of wear and tear.
