Entering Belize at San Pedro

Wondering if anyone has done this recently. We are leave Puerto Aventuras, MX tomorrow to sail down the coast ending at San Pedro. We are using Freya Rauscher's book to plot our course. This morning we called a friend in Belize (Belizean) and they called the Port Captain. The waypoints he sent us are completely different from the cruising guide. We are confused!

We used the waypoints in Rauscher's with no problem. The entrance is very obvious anyway. When you enter look for the reef to Port, turn to Starboard and watch the depth sounder carefully. It shallows up quickly so you pretty much need to find a spot as soon as you get inside. Not sure what your draft is but with 6 feet we bumped bottom in several placed. Chuck

Thanks Chuck. We've read your blog about your time in Belize. We will be returning for the first time on our boat. Been many times and lived there for a year but never ever have we arrived by sail. The port captain's waypoints have us wondering what's up. Guess we'll see when we get there.
