Re: Fast heading output from Raymarine EV1

Currently I have a Seatalk NG backbone with legacy Raymarine equipment plus a new Raymarine autopilot and ev1 for heading. To this I have added a B&G Zeus and a B&G halo radar. The radar and chart overly works but MARPA does not. The halo connects direct to the Zeus with the RJ45 plug. While the Zeus is showing that it is getting heading from the EV1, the Halo is not. Others have they have managed to get a Simrad to work with an EV1. I do not want to spend another USD 600 on a Precision 9 and have 2 heading sensors in the system. Hence the idea of connecting the radar direct to seatalk NG.

Re: Fast heading output from Raymarine EV1

As the previous post by Statistical said, you DO NOT connect Ethernet to NMEA 2000 (including Simnet & Seatalkng) They are two different types of network.

On the B&G plotter, ensure that you have selected the EV1 as a heading source.
Goto Settings->Network->NMEA 2000->Source and check that the EV1 is selected as the Compass source.

Verify that you are receiving heading data.
Goto Settings->Network->NMEA 2000->Device List->EV1->Data. You should see valid heading data.

Ensure the radar is receiving heading information..
Goto Settings->Radar->Settings->Installation->Radar Status
Verify that both "Heading on Radar" and "Heading on Network" are OK.
Similarly verify that under "Sensor Features" that MARPA is also OK.

I've borrowed the neighbours boat/B&G MFD for testing some other stuff and although he doesn't have a radar I've taken some screenshots to help you along. It may not be the same model as your, but the UI should not be much different.

Re: Fast heading output from Raymarine EV1

Thank you, I’ll try this. The B&G documentation is so weak. The Zeus is definitely the heading signal from the EV1. It just seems not to be getting through to the Halo.
