Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Sorry that I am back with a usability question but when using qtVlm Questions arise

When I have calcluated a routing, simplifyed and optimized and review the individual POIs I may wish to select one POI e.g which is too close to a shipping lane or the coast then I select riclickmenu edit and could change numerically the coordinates but is there also a way to just drag the poi with the mouse?

Couldnt figure it out how to achieve that but I am sure its possible.
(The manual did not offer me any insight on this)

Thanks for advise.

Yes just click and drag the POI with the mouse.

When you click on a POI a red circle will appear around it, and after a short time the circle will turn blue. When it's blue you can start moving it with the mouse.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Yesterday tried 5.5.5 on windows 8.1 it refused to start. Some dll missing.

Downloaded 5.5.4 starts up without hiccups.

Should I retest the 555 and take down the dll name?

Thanks,

barnakiel

The Windows I have on this machine is 8.1, the processor is 2 core and the Windows is 64. When I install 5.5.4 the top banner says "qtvlm 64".

The message pops at qtvlm start up (not at installation). qtvlm file is 5.5.5. An image attached. It says a dll is missing. I think this dll comes with your package in earlier versions because they all install clean and run very well.

Or else this dll is Windows based but was not required (called for) by earlier versions of qtvlm.

Reinstalled 5.5.4. Runs fine on the same machine.

Regards,
b.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hello,

Version 5.5.7 has been released yesterday on all platforms (Windows/Mac/Linux/Android/iOS). A part from the usual small fixes/optimizations especially in raster/S57/mbtiles maps, the big news is that qtVlm is now Iridum GO! certified on Android (iOS will come in Q4). On Windows, Mac and iOS qtVlm can also generate satellite grib requests via XGate.

Fair winds to all
Philippe.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hello all again,
qtVlm 5.6.0 is now available.

There is now 3 independent grib slots, which you can enable or disable. qtVlm will automatically choose the data with the best resolution in case several slots are activated and contain the same data. This allows to easily compare several gribs from different models.

Great Circle (Squid) gribs subscriptions can now be directly downloaded from qtVlm (or requested by Email/Iridium).

For this occasion there is a 20% discount on their products during 15 days.

Good winds to all
Philippe.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi all
We are now running 5.7.0 (MacOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, Raspberry)
Since last post a lot of new stuff, including start line mode, alarm on polar performance, and many other improvements like 3 grib slots, direct access to your Great Circle (squid) subscriptions, certification for Iridium GO!...
Besides all that, the greatest news is that it is now available (free) for raspberry PI2 ou 3.
Downloads are available here: qtVlm

There has been some discussions on the openplotter sailoog forum and it is good to see that qtVlm is now available on the raspberry too.

Have downloaded the files but am unclear now how to proceed.
The familiar way to use
sudo apt-get install xxxx (so in this case qtVlm) ?

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hello,
The installation procedure is the same as for linux: just uncompress the archive somewhere and run qtVlm from there.

Which in a terminal gives:

tar zxvf qtVlm-5.7.0-rpi.tar.gz
cd qtVlm
./qtVlm

Note that if you have a touchscreen monitor, you can also run ./qtVlm_touchscreen for a pure tactile version.

Philippe.
PS: this is tested on various Raspbian's flavors but don't hesitate to report if something is not working.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Dear Maitai,
Someone mentioned gtVlm is free but the code is not available. What do you call your software then? Is it open source as in the Fee Software Foundation definition or is it called something else?

Do you ever intend to share your software?

Thanks.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

have installed qtVlm as instructed on rpi3 with op016 und Jessi.
When starting the programm I see splash screen with progressbar for ca 5 seconds and then programm stops without further messages.
Could this be a memory issue?
Any advise how to proceed now?

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

When did you download the archive? This WE we have made some changes to better accomodate Jessie, so in case you donwloaded it before can you try to donwload it again please? If you run it from a terminal what do you see from there?

@rick well if you really need to name it, I guess it's ok to call it a shareware.

That did it - thanks. Strangely the NMEA test dialoge shows nothing but the data are received and shown in the instruments.
Will now make further tests
