Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Tried a fresh install of qtVlm on the raspi3 with op. Hold all my charts on the USB drive rather than the SDcard.
When I point qtVlm to the ....\media\pi\charts folder the system becomes unstable and crashes.

Hi,
What kind of maps (raster, S57, mbtiles) and how many of them roughly ?
Did you try to rebuild the map catalog (from the configuration dialog) ?

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi again,
We tried hard to reproduce that but no luck. All is ok, whatever the kind of maps. We tried on a RPI2 with openplotter (Jessie) and on a RPI3 with Stretch.
Maybe something wrong physically with your USB drive?

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Phillipe, merci beaucoup. Works for me, with a huge library of raster and vector charts.

You may want to see if you can put a redirect or a text page at the old location since old versions of qtVlm and other sites like
QtVlm/en — VlmWiki

point there and might not get updated for some time.

Yep our bad we forgot to update the links in the wiki english version. It's fixed. You are right the wiki is lagging way behind, I should spend some time on it again one day.
On the other end the documentation is up-to-date.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Creating is fun, maintaining is hard.

I download GRIBs directly from NOAA. They can be read by some weather viewers but not by any of my charting software (qtVlm, OpenCPN, zyGrib, seaIQ, etc). If I PM you a file, can you take a look? I think it's using a different coordinate system.

Didn't get that far. Wanted to point to the vector charts already downloaded, rather than download 100mb again.
Maybe yr comment on hw issue with usbdrive is valid, have strange behavior with raspi lately

You can specify a folder with the vector charts and a different folder for raster charts:
Preferences->Maps->Rasters and Vectors

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi,
Can you be more specific?
I put http://openskiron.org/gribs/Adriatic...211117.grb.bz2 as an example in one of the slot's customized grib download and it just works...

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

In fact it is not that extension bz2 is not recognized. The problem is that the directory containing the gribs is not browsable as such. The webpage contains hardcoded links to files, I suppose it changes each time there is a new grib available. qtVlm cannot display a webpage, only a list of files.
You may ask openskiron to do something about it (i.e. to have the directory browsable, or to store them on a ftp server, or to have a file with always the same name, for instance Adriatic_SKIRON_WAM_latest.grb.bz2).
