Garmin 541s and Raymarine ST4000 Autopilot Communication

I have a new Mk2 drive unit I installed, boat has a Nexxus Silva compas, I calibrated the compass, and everything works as it should. I hooked up the cables from the Garmin 541s to the Ray ST4000 head unit so it could communicate via 0183. When I punch in a course or waypoint, and then go and hit the two buttons on the ST4000 head unit to engage it, it shows the heading and distance, etc for the waypoint so it is obviously communicating with the Garmin but it does not respond and steer to it. Not sure if I have the settings 100% on the garmin, i.e. does it need to have numbers set to 2, 3, or 4? and do waypoints need to be set to numbers or letters in the garmin ?

Any insight or help would be Greatly appreciated.

There are several issues, from memory the ST4000 needs way points as R001-R002 etc, Some garmins had a setting to convert the way points to this numeric format.

Also Garmins send out bearing in true the ST needs it in magnetic ( I believe).
