Sat2Chart.V6.0.1.0 - some minor fixes but the big change is that I have removed the "Step By Step Procedures" and replaced them with links to tutorials on just about everything you can do with Sat2Chart.
You get to the tutorials by pressing the Tutorial button (see attachment) and selecting one or by opening the Help and following the link in the first section. If your Internet is slow download them and watch after.

Sat2Chart.V6.0.4.0 is now available.

It provides complete mbtiles support for Google earth. Now, as well as creating a single mbtiles chart from Google earth, you can create mbtiles charts while tiling or from paths and polygons.

When creating charts from satellite images like Google earth mbtiles charts have one big advantage over kap charts they have no color loss, they can have 1000's of colors while kaps are limited to 127 colors. This is important for identifying underwater objects like reefs in the chart.

Like creating mbtiles from SasPlanet, you need to install GDAL. See the Sat2Chart Help (F1) for details.

Found out the Help (F1) was not working so cut a new version. Also made the Mbtiles from doing overlays of OpenCPN or SasPlanet onto Google earth full colored. Here is the link:

Hello Paul,
I`m really trying to follow this thread since the beginning but , it is super complicated.I see that most other guys are computer experts as much as you !

Do you have a detailed tutorial from where a dumb like me can start doing things work? But I mean a detailed one like:

Download GE
Doenload Open cpn
Download thw followiing links and do this and that, etc

The problem is , I downloaded all this stuff and now I don`t know what to do with that.

Have you downloaded Sat2Chart and installed it? If so, there should by shortcut to it on your desktop. Start it and watch the Tutorials.

I have just installed this latest version. You have put a huge amount of work into this - thank you!

Tried to create mbtiles but got error saying I need GDAL installed.
I went to download directory, found GDAL 1500 and installed that.
Tried to create a 4x4 chart, went through 16 iterations, then said image too big.
Then said I need GDAL again.
Pressed F1 for help, but only got Microsoft help page.

I rebooted everything and now I can download and install satellite mbtiles.

The F1 help still isn't working though. Trial and error is working fine...

What version of Sat2Chart are you running? The latest version is V6.0.8.0 and F1 works. I did have a problem at V6.0.6.0 where the F1 did not work.

Also the version of GDAL should be V204. Uninstall the 1500 and download and install this one:

I am running v6. 0.8.0 - the latest version you have posted.
GDAL v204 seems to be an earlier version, which is why I chose 1500 (sorry if I don't remember the exact numbers). The version I have installed appears to be working, although quilting can be very slow sometimes

GDAL 1500 doesn't have some of the functions required. Uninstall it and install V204.

And F1 should work. If it doesn't send me the Sat2Chart.log as an attachment to an email.

I got it wrong... I am running GDAL v204.

I am running Sat2chart v6.0.8.0 and I tried again to get help from F1 but all I got was Microsoft Windows 10 help page and then Bing.

I have found a log.txt file. I am having difficulty finding your email address to send this, since I can't access help....

Also, the Google earth images I have downloaded and run in OpenCPN appear to have LARGE black areas surrounding them. OpenCPN is also verrrrrry slow to scroll around and zoom in and out, as if it is processing too much info.
So I think I am going to have to delete those images to clean things up and restore functionality.

Hello,

I'm also trying to run Sat2Chart on Windows 10. I downloaded Sat2Chart.V6.0.8.0.exe from Index of /Downloads (running a .exe file without any readme or anything makes me a little bit suspicious. Why do you distribute your software this way?). I tried to run the file but nothing happens. No error message.

What's the proper way to install Sat2Charts / What other software do I have to install first?

I had some problems first (the .exe didn't open the installer, no error, maybe problem with av?). But after I tried it on a different machine it worked like a charm
