A New Version of GE2KAP.V10.0.0.3 has been uploaded to:

www.gdayii.ca/Downloads then click on file GE2KAP.msi

This version makes it easier for new users by automatically installing the GE2KAP plugin (ge2kap_pi.dll) for OpenCPN if its not installed or is the wrong version.

Note:
If your browser is the latest version of Mozilla Firefox it may have problem downloading .msi files. This is due to a problem that is described here:

You have 3 choices to download the GE2KAP.msi:

1. Use another browser. IE, Chrome and Opera all work OK.

2. Instead of clicking on the msi file, right click and select "Save Link As.." and save it to a folder. It will add a .txt to the name so it will be GE2KAP.msi.txt. Rename it to GE2KAP.msi then open it.

3. Activate the Alt Click feature of Firefox by following these steps:
-- In the search field enter: about:config
-- If you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.
-- It will display all the config preferences.
-- Enter in the search field: browser.altClickSave
-- Double click on the browser.altClickSave entry to change the value to true.
-- Now go to my website by entering: www.gdayii.ca/Downloads
-- Hold the Alt key and left click the GE2KAP.msi
--It will download, after downloading open the download folder and click on the GE2KAP.msi to start the install.

I am using the DownThemAll add-on for Firefox which downloads the .msi OK.

I was trying to do a GE overlay onto the CM93 charts and I didn't find any .KAP files. Where can I get .KAP chart files to overlay the GE images onto?

Very Interesting...please terminate GE2KAP then restart it and if you have the same problem, send me the GE2KAP.log file which is in the directory where you installed GE2KAP. This file may look like a text file if you aren't displaying file extentions. My email is in the Help.

I was reloading the GE2KAP.msi this morning, you may have caught it when it was partially updated. Please download it again and retry. It is now GE2KAP.V10.0.0.11.

Uploaded a new version V10.0.0.12 that I think fixes Ami's problem, waiting to hear from her. Also, it fixes a few other issues:

1. Hides the console window.

2. The first ">" became disabled so you couldn't reduce to one panel.

3. At first startup, or when you select another language, will now fly GE to a language relevant location.

Don't forget if your browser is Firefox you may have problems downloading it. See post #811 for a way around it.

GE2KAP.V10.0.0.13

Fixed the problem with the panels on GE2KAP for different screen resolutions.

Also added KMZ/KML support for the Tile and Polygon/Path features. In other words you can now create .KML or .KMZ output instead of .KAP charts when tiling or specifying an area. This is for those using the KML plugin. Just add the kml or kmz suffix in the Chart Location\Name field eg:
C:\GE2KAP\GE2KAP.V10.0.0.13\Charts\Toronto Harbor.kmz

New Installer for GE2KAP

To be more inline with standard windows install programs and to fix the problem some people are having with Firefox being unable to download .msi files, I have created a new install program for GE2KAP. It is now:

replacing the GE2KAP.rex in C:\GE2KAP\GE2KAP.V10.0.0.11\ with the attached file, I get by email solved the poblem

Thanks for that feedback.

But could you try the latest version because I have changed the way I setup the panels and it may affect you because of the larger screen resolution. I have no way to test it.

What did you do to get that?

Try this, on GE:
- click on View and select "Sidebar"
- is there anything under the "My Places" or "Temporay Places" ? if so,
right click on them and select "Delete Contents"
