Problems only began with OpenCPN 3.3.1824.

Third times a charm? My first attempt this morning failed but I didn't get screen shots. My second attempt and third attempt worked OK

Only tested on W7U. Will try on XP.

Tested on XP. OpenCPN 3.3.1824, GE2KAP 12.0.0.5

First run no joy. Images attached.

Second run OK

Log attached in .doc format for upload.

Could you try to make it fail again but first do the following:
1. On GE turn on the Status Bar from View.
2. On GE2KAP on the third panel set the Diag level to 1.

If it fails take a screenshot but show the GE status bar so I can see what height GE is at (see attachment for example). Send the screenshot and the GE2KP.log

I still get the same error when using 12.0.0.5 as in the previous version.
GE2KAP (in root) complains about O version. I'm using beta 1824 on a parallel install with 1731 (both on desktop) and 1606(in C:/programmes/...)
Last time, repairing GE2KAP from the installer solved the problem, but not this time.
However, clicking a second time on 'create chart' yields perfect charts...

You evidently have something else in the windows registry that is called OpenCPN. I have put in a further check to see if its a valid entry. If you send me an email I will send you this updated version to try. My email is in the Help

The 12.0.0.5 program was working OK on Windows XP, using ooRexx 4.1.2.8305 and OpenCPN 3.3.1824

But then I did a Typing Test and it now hangs at the screen shown below, with the 3 Typing Test lines under the Path to the PC Image Editor.

I uninstalled the program, ran a registry clean, rebooted and reinstalled the program. Same results.

I downloaded version 11.0.0.0 and ran the installation. On launch it failed with the error shown, XP 11.0.0.0 Fail. I used the installation program to Repair. Launched and got same error.

I uninstalled ooRexx 4.1.2 and installed ooRexx 4.2.0. Same error.

Restarted XP. Launched GE2KAP 11.0.0.0 and got same error

Restored XP to a previous System Checkpoint (in Safe Mode) of 3 days ago (which I think was before running the typing test?). On reboot had GE2KAP 12.0.0.5 and ooRexx 4.1.2.8305 back.

Launching GE2KAP fails. It flashes the 'Please wait' screen then closes.

Rebooted the computer with same results. Both the Check.log and the GE2KAP.log have entries earlier than this attempt.

Reinstalled GE2KAP 12.0.0.5 with same flashing result.

So I'm now DIW with the XP machine

HOWEVER on another machine with W7U, OpenCPN 3.3.1824 and GE2KAP 12.0.0.5, I ran the Typing Test for the first time. When the program launched it flashed the 3 Typing Test lines and continued to the normal view.

No joy ... just a flash of 'Checking ... wait' then close. Grrrrr.

Did it produce a check.log or GE2KAP.log. If so send them.

And make sure that after you delete the GEKAP.Options.txt that you execute the GE2KAP.EXE not the GE2KAP.rex.

If there is no Check.log, open a CMD prompt and CD to the directory that GE2KAP is installed and enter:
rexx -v
this should produce this type of output:

If not then oorexx is not installed properly. Try reinstalling it.

Discovered I had the old version ooRexx 4.1 after doing the System Restore.

Installed 4.2.0. Had a few false starts but all seems OK now

I deleted the old GE2KAP Options file and after getting things working found the differences in the language compared to the new one; both attached.

Also attached the log.

Found more problems:

- If there exists an invalid entry in the windows directory for OpenCPN get message stating wrong level of OpenCPN

- Creates an GEKAP.Options with LANG=none

GE2KAP 12.0.0.6 seems to have solved my problem...

I have tried to run this program in wine, however the installer starts with a blank menu.

I have installed oorex:

Anyone have luck using this program without the windows operating system? Where can I get the rex source code to build a linux version?
