iPad for only

Navigation in San Juans. Going to obtain a WiFi plus cellular for navigation with Navionics. Wondering about need for IPAD storage as in Gigabytes. There is a big $ difference so just wondering if I need a lot of IPAD storage if navigation is the main use?

Re: iPad for only

You don’t need the cellular version just to have gps. You can get a stand alone gps receiver that is much more accurate, connects to multiple devices and data logs. All via Bluetooth. Size wise.....I use Iboat with Furumo radar overlay with my IPad which is 32 gig and no issues keeping my normal apps on it as well. I’m in the PNW too. Get a good mount, a waterproof case and a water resistant charging option. My IPad will last about 3 hours continuous use not plugged in. I have a watertight usb charging port mounted on my pedisal and keep it plugged in . No issues with screen brightness for me like others have reported. I have redundancy with Iboat on my IPhone and ISailor on a old Samsung Tablet and my Android phone.

Re: iPad for only

I’ve used the IPad/ gps set up for two years now with it disconnecting only one time. The problem was with the IPad because I switched to my IPhone seamlessly. I was heading into Penrose in the dark with it raining like crazy.
