There was an article in The Australian a few weeks ago about a marine scientist who was threatened with dismissal because he identified that some of the photos used to illustrate the bleaching die off were actually of a place which had never had much corral growth. He had done the research required to find a series of old images of the same place and there was very little difference between historical and post bleaching. If this is true then the "deniers" don't need much help, the catastrophists are doing the job for them.

Since we did not have any cyclones this year I would be very sceptical of reports of high sea temperatures which are purportedly the cause of bleaching.

Being an old bloke I can recall when the first plague of crown of thorns starfish occurred, pundits stated the reef would be gone then and it is still there.

Re: jet stream crosses equator....

I saw this info about the jet stream crossing the equator and thought it it interesting. I asked a friend who is a climatologist and she said the jet stream often crosses the equator. Not unusual.
